How your results work

Each scale has one statement for each end, so agreeing with everything does not push you in one direction. Your eight positions are compared with every culture in the culture guide, and you see your closest cultures, your furthest cultures and the scales where the gap is largest.

Use with care

Scale positions are Tarock editorial estimates informed by published cross-cultural research, including the eight scales Erin Meyer describes in The Culture Map. They are not Erin Meyer’s own placements, are not affiliated with or endorsed by her, and describe broad tendencies, never individuals.

Questions people ask

What does the culture quiz measure?

Your preferences on eight scales popularized by Erin Meyer’s The Culture Map: low- vs high-context communication, direct vs indirect feedback, applications- vs principles-first persuasion, egalitarian vs hierarchical leadership, consensual vs top-down decisions, task- vs relationship-based trust, open vs harmony-first disagreement, and linear vs flexible time.

How is my match with each culture calculated?

Each answer moves you toward one end of a scale. Your eight positions are compared with Tarock’s editorial estimates for each culture, and the match is 100 minus the average gap across the scales. A higher number means your habits sit closer to that culture’s typical norms.

Does a high match mean I belong to that culture?

No. Culture positions describe broad tendencies, not individuals, and many people inside any country differ from its norms. Use your closest and furthest cultures as a starting point for noticing where you might need to adapt, not as an identity verdict.

Is the culture quiz free?

Yes. The quiz and results are free and do not need an account. Your answers stay in your browser. You can create a free Tarock personality card afterwards to add up to three cultural backgrounds next to your MBTI-style type.

Are these Erin Meyer’s official results?

No. The quiz statements and culture positions are Tarock’s own, informed by Meyer’s scales and other published cross-cultural research. They are not affiliated with or endorsed by Erin Meyer.
